Plug Valve

A plug valve is a type of quarter-turn valve that uses a cylindrical or tapered plug to control the flow of fluids. It is called a “plug” valve because the plug acts as the closing element that can be rotated to open or close the flow passage.

The main components of a plug valve include a body, a plug (or disc), seats, and a stem. The plug has a hole through its center, which aligns with the flow path when the valve is open and is perpendicular to the flow path when the valve is closed. By rotating the plug, the flow can be fully opened or closed, or it can be regulated by partially obstructing the flow.
